When I think of February, love springs to mind. Love of all Americans – it’s Black History Month. Love of Country – we celebrate President’s Day honoring Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Spiritual love – Ash Wednesday and let’s not forget Punxsutawney Phil! Then there is Romantic Love – Valentine’s Day.
This month’s featured song is Sa Nuit d’Été by Morten Lauridsen. The lyrics come from a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke. The music and lyrics touch my heart. I hope you may find inspiration in them, as I do.
If, with my burning hands, I could melt
the body surrounding your lover’s heart,
ah! How the night would become translucent,
taking it for a late star,
which, from the first moments of the world,
was forever lost, and which begins its course
with its blonde light, trying to reach out toward
its first night, its night, its summer night.
