Even though we can’t sing for you live for a while, we would still love to share our music with you. Each month while we’re isolated, we will share a song that’s special to us. We look forward to the time when we can sing for you in person again!
This month’s selection comes to you from Sherri Liebhauser, who has been a member of the Choir for 10 years:
My earliest school memories are of singing Christmas songs. Singing in choirs has remained a significant part of my life. The last six months have brought a forced pause to The Colorado Choir, but I turn to the music we have sung to lift my spirits, inspire me, and motivate me to stay positive.
When asked to select one of my favorite songs from our repertoire, I immediately thought of “Jesus Be Near to Me.” This song features one of our gifted sopranos who begins with a solo, her gentle voice setting the stage for the entrance of the choir. We enter softly and gradually build to emotional crescendos. Then the song finishes with her gentle voice once again. When my daughter heard us perform this piece, she commented to me that it touched her heart and helped her realize how much someone close to her needed Jesus during a difficult time. Many feel the need for Jesus to be nearer to them these days. I hope listening to this song helps you feel peace and love.
