Born at Wright-Patterson AFB, but a native of Bainbridge, Georgia, Benjamin Ehrlich is a life-long collaborative musician. Following early study in piano while also singing in choirs, Benjamin began accompanying hospital chapel services at age fourteen, and his own school and church choirs by the age of fifteen. He received his BMus in Organ Performance from the University of Florida, while in the studio of Dr. Laura Ellis. Benjamin was also awarded the Service Playing Certificate from the American Guild of Organists. He has performed in master classes led by Marilyn Keiser, Daniel Roth, and Edward Kilenyi, Jr.
Since moving to Denver in 2009, Benjamin has continued working as an accompanist for all ages– with graded school programs, church choirs, and theater productions. He has served 7 years as Organist for Holy Comforter Episcopal in Broomfield, Colorado, playing the mechanical 1869 Hook Organ each Sunday. In addition, Benjamin accompanies the Sanctuary Choir and programs the church’s annual music recital series.
Previously, Benjamin has served on staff with First Plymouth UCC in Englewood, the Young Voices of Colorado, Broomfield Children’s Chorus, Lakewood UMC, Jeffco and Denver Public Schools, Colorado Children’s Chorale, and First United Methodist in Gainesville, FL. He regularly is a substitute musician for multiple denominations in the Denver metro area. A past Dean of the Denver Rocky Mountain AGO, Benjamin has volunteered with the chapter over the years as Placement Coordinator, Calendar Coordinator, and Facebook Administrator. In his free time, Benjamin enjoys neighborhood walks, chess, the beautiful Colorado scenery, and spending time with family.
The Colorado Choir is delighted to have Benjamin as our principal pianist.
