50th Anniversary Section Spotlight: Meet the 1st Tenors

Section Spotlight Banner 2025

The Colorado Choir’s members come from all walks of life, united in our love of choral music. For our 50th Anniversary Season, we want to introduce (and re-introduce!) our members to our audience. We also asked them if they would like to share any thoughts on what music and The Colorado Choir mean to them.

We look forward to meeting you at our concerts and events this season!

First up we have our 1st Tenor section.

Aaron R.Aaron R.

Years with the Choir: 5

Aaron’s Thoughts on Music:

Music is important to me because people have been making music longer than speaking. Music is as much a part of humanity as fire or making tools, and singing in a group has always connected me to the beauty of humanity.

Fun Facts about Aaron:

  • Aaron collects manga and video games.
  • He studies Japanese whenever possible.
  • Aaron dearly loves his two cats and a dog.

Ann W.Ann W.

Years with the Choir: 10

Ann’s Thoughts on Music:

I like the camaraderie of the tenor section. Music is a way of connecting with people of diverse backgrounds.

Fun Facts about Ann:

  • Ann teaches people who suffer from anxiety and depression how to “re-train” their brains.
  • She graduated from Cornell University and Professional Baseball Umpire School.

Lewis K.Lewis K.

Years with the Choir: 2

Lewis’s Thoughts on Music:

A mentor of mine growing up told me that I should always do three things every day: read, laugh, and sing. I try to follow his advice because music is food for the soul. It expresses emotion that cannot be conveyed through words alone and brings people together. The Colorado Choir has nourished me in this way!

Fun Facts about Lewis:

  • Lewis loves airplanes and works for an airline.
  • He studied in Taipei and speaks a little Mandarin.
  • He’s a proud Philadelphia native and a big fan of the Phillies.

Max C.Max C.

Years with the Choir: 4

Max’s Thoughts on Music:

I’m happy to be able to make music and share it with others.

Fun Facts about Max:

  • Max plays the guitar and at various times has also played the violin, piano, and saxophone.
  • He’s an audio technologist who loves radio and podcasting.
  • Max enjoys the Colorado outdoors by running and skiing.

Mick P.Mick P.

Years with the Choir: 50

Mick’s Thoughts on Music:

Music can express things no other art form can.

Fun Facts about Mick:

  • Mick’s earliest recording was done at 3 years of age.
  • He visited Romania in 1972 on a choir tour.

Pak A.Pak A.

Years with the Choir: 1

Pak’s Thoughts on Music:

Music has always been my anchor—it helps me stay balanced, express myself, and has guided me through my toughest moments.

Fun Facts about Pak:

  • Pak is from Peru and has recently moved to Denver.
  • He started singing with the PUCP (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú) students’ choir while in undergrad.
  • Aside from singing, Pak loves to eat and try new dishes.

Sang in the choir in a recent season and it was one of the best decisions that I have made in a long time. It really rekindled my love of music. If you have the opportunity to hear the choir, you definitely should it’s a group of overwhelmingly passionate local musicians that want to share lovely music with the community!

Michael

I took my wife and sister-in-law to this concert. It was truly awesome. They sang how I imagine angels sing in Heaven.

Thomas T.

My husband and I attended the Colorado Choir’s Christmas concert. When the first song was over the audience sat stunned. It took a few seconds for the applause to burst out because the performance was superb! It was a multicultural event as well! I recommend that everybody go and listen to the Colorado Choir.

Theresa B.

My favorite event of the holiday season is the choir’s Christmas performance. It has become a tradition for us to attend because it provides a lovely start to holiday festivities. The choir’s music is inspirational and awe-inspiring. Their sound fills the church and fills the heart.

Kevin S.

I have been an ongoing fan of the Colorado Choir and thank our close friend Becky McGurk for providing us tickets. We frequently attend the Christmas concert as it gets us in the spirit of the holiday. We plan to take our grandson to the March concert as he is very involved in the music program at North High School. We want him to experience the sounds of a beautiful choir. Looking forward to another great evening of music.

Juanita R-J.

Interesting, varied repertoire in a beautiful setting. Thank you for the music!

Chen J.

I have attended the Colorado Choir concerts for the past 20 years. The Christmas Concert is so joyful and very rich in sound it always starts my Christmas Season. This Christmas I understand the choir will perform songs in French, Latin and Russian and during the Winter and Spring concerts will add a Spanish piece to the repertoire. This choir is spectacular.

Jennifer C.

The Colorado Choir is really something else. A family member of mine has been signing with them for years and I look forward to listening to them at each of their annual concerts. It’s a unique experience worth enjoying!

Evan C.

I have been attending their concerts for a couple years now, their Christmas concert is always very well done and the online will call purchase is really convenient.

Andrew H.
